As we mentioned before in our Design Discovery article, we got hands-on with our vintage Kewlox display cabinet. You may ask yourself why we would change a vintage piece? As you can see in the before picture, the flocked pool table green panels had their best days. Due to light and age, the color sadly faded away in certain spots. So we pulled out our best D.I.Y capacities and handled the problem!
We teamed up with the Kewlox team and decided to replace the pool table green color for a sharp white and bright Turquoise from their Frost range. So bye bye to the old Unalit panels and welcome to the much more resistant MDF and frosted plastic panels. As the system didn’t change since its birth, the DIY part was easy peasy! No glue, no screws, no complicated assembly papers, just plain old logical thinking!
To proove you just how easy it is, we made this step by step article! Before we kick off our series of pictures, we’ll show you the before situation:

Let’s start with step 1: collect all the pieces needed to build up your Kewlox. This will include the metal side profiles, wooden structural rails, wooden sliding elements and your panels.

Step 2: connect the 4 metal profiles with the wooden rails, as this is the first step ask for a helping hand to hold up the metal profiles.

Step 3: slide these small profiles into the metal L-elements, the act as profiles which hold the panels and define the height of each compartment.

Step 4: slide in those panels, the bottom panel fall into the inside of the wooden rails.

Step 5: add the wooden rails, as you can see everything just drops into place.

Step 6: start building up, until you hit the top! At this stage you can start playing with your colors and formations.

Step 7: fill it up! Get all your knic nacs and start to play the role of decorator.
